James Boyd Yates Sr. married Dorothy Ellen (Etta) Hill 20 October 1924 in Chickasha, Grady County, Oklahoma. Known children: James Boyd Yates, Jr., Betty Jean Yates and Margaret Ann Yates. JAMES B. YATES Rites are pending for James B. Yates, 76, 2025 South 13th, waiting arrival of his son, Capt. James Yates, who is with the United States Army in Thailand. Yates died at 5:40 p.m. Sunday in Grady Memorial Hospital. He was born March 20, 1888 and lived at Sterling prior to moving to Chickasha 40 years ago. He was a retired lineman for the Public Service Company where he had been employed 30 years He retired 11 years ago. His wife, Dorothy Ellen, and daughters, Betty Jean and Margaret Ann, drowned June 4, 1953 while swimming in a stock pond west of Chickasha. He is survived by three son J. C. and Douglas Yates, Lawton and Captain Yates, Thailand, one daughter, Lois Yates, Lawton; three sisters Mrs. Leah Pipes and Mrs. Myrtle Price, Lawton and Mrs. Minnabell Jenkins, Phoenix, Arizona and three brothers, Charlie, Dewey and Henry Yates all of Phoenix. Service time will be announced later by Sevier's Funeral home. and A retired public service company employee, James B. Yates, 76, 2025 South 13th, died at 5:40 p.m. Sunday in Grady Memorial Hospital. Services are pending and will be announced later by Sevier's Funeral Home.
