Bio

Son of John Willard Rushton and Annie Wood Husband of Myrtle Walker, married 30 Sep 1914 in the Court House in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah Albert Ver Rushton was the son of John W. Rushton and Annie Wood Rushton. He was born on Dec. 4, 1888, and was baptized on Sept. 3, 1898. Ver, as he was always called. His mother was a pioneer who settled in American Fork. His father's parents also came from England to American Fork for the sake of the Gospel. Before meeting Myrtle, Ver had worked in Idaho with a team of horses. He hauled ore from American Fork Canyon before and after their marriage. He also worked on a farm. he always liked to drive a good team and enjoyed working with horses. In American Fork at a dance one night, Ver met Myrtle Walker. They "kept company" for about two years, then were married in the Courthouse in Salt Lake City, on Sept. 30, 1914, Myrtle's parents accompanied them to Salt Lake for their marriage. The Rushton's first home was in the house where Myrtle's brother, William, just south of her parent's home, lived there for two years, then built the house which they made their permanent home. They have two daughters. Ver & Myrtle enjoyed their home and spent much of their time there. They enjoyed trips to Yellowstone National Park and several trips to the canyon. In 1954, Ver became very ill and died June 7 1954 at their home. He had been very ill two or three times during their marriage. Funeral services were conducted for him in the Second Ward Chapel, on June 10, 1954. The talks given by his friends and neighbors all emphasized his attributes of kindness, love for his family, and good neighborliness. He was buried in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery just a short distance from his home.
