Obit - provided by Pemberton Funeral Home, Commerce, TX McCord James Samuel McCord, 86; of Commerce, Texas, died Wednesday, June 10, 1998. Mr. McCord was born Sept. 13, 1911, in Grapevine, Texas, to Joseph and Vissie McKeithan McCord. He married Johnnie Ray Woods Jan. 10, 1932 in Clovis, N.M. He lived most of his married life in Hutchins, Texas; where he was an independent owner and operator in the trucking industry. He moved to Commerce in December 1995. He was a Baptist. Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. Thursday, June 11, 1998, in the Trinity Cemetery in Wilmer, under the direction of Pemberton Funeral Home in Commerce. The Rev. Joel Harris officiated. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Vissie McCord; three sisters, Francis, Mildred and Oldine; and two brothers, Joe and F.B. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Johnnie Ray McCord of Commerce; two sons, Sam McCord of Commerce and Weldon McCord of Gainsville, Texas; two daughters, Maxine Sewell of Nocona, Texas, and Barbara Ann Reed of Lancaster; two brothers, Ray Mc Cord and Harold McCord, both of Hutchins; one sister, Helen Molinari of San Francisco; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandcvhildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
