Frances Burnett, 90, passed away at the Conroe Regional Hospital Thursday, May 22, 2009. A Freeport resident for more than 60 years, she was born Frances Preston on April 6, 1919, near Edgewood, Texas, to Ernest Preston and Maudie Della (Beard) Preston. She married Stephen T. Burnett, December 20, 1946, and worked for Dow Chemical as a secretary for five years before staying home to raise three children. Mrs. Burnett was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Stephen T. Burnett on November 4, 2006; three brothers, Ennis Preston, Frank Preston, Dick Preston; two sisters, Lois Bible and Gladys Wisdom; daughter, Ruby Stella Burnett; and son, Ernest Arthur Burnett. She is survived by daughters, Ruth Burnett and I.J. Aye of Porter, Texas, and Dorothy and Bob Wolverton of Huntsville, Texas; sisters, Maudine Hill of Waxahachie, Texas, Ernestene Fulwider of Canton, Texas, and Christene Tidwell of Edgewood, Texas; grandchildren, Brandi Aaron Groen, Amberly O'Brien, Tiffany David Garcia, and Brad Wolverton; and six great-grandchildren, Gage Chronister, Seth Chronister, Hailey Groen, Amberly O'Brien, Lauren Williams, Riley O'Brien, Tiffany Garcia, Ava Garcia. Active pallbearers are Steven Bradley Wolverton, Bob Wolverton, Ira Aye Jr, Bobby Stone, Keith Stone and Tom Zoehler. Source: Brazosport Facts
