Ethel M. Ortman Ethel M. Ortman, 97, of Boise, Idaho, went to be with her Lord on Feb. 24, 2009 at Valley View Health Care. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 2, 2009 at 2 p.m. at Cloverdale Funeral Home in Boise. Burial will follow at Cloverdale Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Friday, Feb. 27, 2009 at Cloverdale Funeral Home. Ethel was born on Feb. 9, 1912, in Anamoose, N.D., to C.F. and Martha Frankhauser. Her early years were spent on the family farm. She married Herbert Ortman on June 23, 1937, and the couple resided in Fargo, N.D. before moving to Anderson, Ind., and Oberlin, Ohio. In 1946 the family moved to Rochester, N.H. where Herbert started a new Church of God. In 1961 the family moved to Mankato, Minn. where Herbert was pastor of the Church of God. After retirement in 1985, the couple moved to Grand Junction, Colo. where they resided until 2001 before moving to Boise, Idaho. Ethel worked as an Avon sales representative for more than 25 years, winning numerous awards for top sales. She became a group sales leader. Ethel loved to garden and raised roses and numerous flowers. She loved to can her produce, especially peaches from her peach trees. During those years she served as Chaplain at a local hospital. Ethel loved to make family quilts and also crochet towels. Ethel is survived by her children, Doris (John) Almond of Sheridan, Wyo., and Arthur (Delores) Ortman of Boise, Idaho, four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren, and a sister. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2004, parents, and seven brothers and sisters.
