"The LaFayette Sun" - June 9, 1915: Death of Mr. John F. Parker. Mr. John F. Parker died last Tuesday morning at his residence two miles north of town after a brief illness from appendicitis. He was fifty-four years old. Surviving him is his widow, who was Miss Nancy C. Ford, and nine children: also, two sisters – Mrs. Mamie Wesley, Ashland, Ala., and Mrs. Sara Coggin, of Buffalo, Ala., The funeral services were conducted by Rev. A. C. Yeargan, the pastor of the family, and interment was in the old Rock Spring Cemetery at 10:00 o'clock Wednesday morning. Mr. Parker was highly thought of by his neighbors and friends; he was a good citizen, honest and upright in all his dealings with his fellowmen; he will be greatly missed in the neighborhood in which he lived.
