Lorene Walker Funeral services for Lorene Walker, 95, of Houston will be held Thursday, May 21, 2009 at 2 p.m. in the Carroway-Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with the Reverend Dr. Dalton Havard officiating. Interment will follow in the Huntington Cemetery. Mrs. Walker was born March 19, 1914 in Trinity County, Texas to the late Mishie (Harris) and Lee Jordan, and died Monday, May 18, 2009 at her residence. Mrs. Walker resided most of her adult life in the Ora Community, moving to Huntington after the death of her husband and eventually moving to Houston, where she lived the last 19 years of her life with her son and daughter-in-law. She was a member of the First Ora Missionary Baptist Church her entire adult life, and taught Sunday School there for many years. She is survived by her only child, Mike Walker and wife Donna Walker and their three children, Lawrence Tate, Amanda Tate and Melinda Papp. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Walker was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Loyd E. Walker who died May 1, 1979; sisters, Maude Hall and Lily Vardeman; and brothers, Carrol Jordan, J.B. Jordan and D.F. Jordan. Pallbearers will be Jesse Walker, Roy Walker, Charles Colwell, Lawrence Tate, Gary Loveless and Jean Harris. Honorary pallbearers will be Truman Hall and Gary Thornton.
