Obituary provided by Sue Lilley : =============================================== THE HIGHLANDER NEWS MARCH 2, 2006 Tommie Lewis Tommie Lewis, 66, died Feb. 25, 2006, at her home in Meadowlakes. Her life will be celebrated Friday morning, March 3, at 10 a.m. at the Church of Christ in Smithwick with burial to follow at Smithwick Cemetery . There will be a viewing at the church 6-8 p.m. the night before. Born at home, Aug. 8, 1938, in the community of Hoxie, in Williamson County and graduated from Taylor High School in 1957. She was a third generation Texan of Czech descent, raised in the Taylor/Granger area. She learned the value of hard work from picking cotton as a child. Her children remember her spending countless hours in her vegetable garden and eating the fruits of her labor. She was baptized into the Church of Christ after her marriage to Nelson Henry Lewis in November of 1961. She was a devoted and loving mother who took her greatest joy in her children and grandchildren; she worked alongside her husband for many years, helping him operate a successful business. She was also an avid tennis player, and was known for her impeccable taste, and sense of style. She was preceded in death by her husband March 24, 2004 and by her parents Thomas Anton, and Elsie Palla Sassin, and by one brother, Eugene Sassin. Survivors include: children Hank, Tracy, Julie La Verne, and Jake; Hank's wife Janet, their three children Jade, Caitlin, and Keenan; and Tracy's husband J. G. Crouch and daughter Chloe; sister Shirley Nemec of Austin, and many nieces and nephews. Her family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the many health care professionals who provided loving care during the last couple of years: Robin and the entire staff of Cornerstone at St. David's, the excellent caregivers at Seton IMC, and Life Made Easy. In particular, she and her children appreciated Dawn and Willie Smith, Nick, Michael, Marcos, Oscar, and Samantha. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Camp of the Hills, 1552 County Road 344, Marble Falls, TX 78654. Arrangements are under the direction of Clements-Wilcox Funeral home of Marble Falls.
