State Line Tribune - November 2, 1944 HEART ATTACK CLAIMS MRS. MCGILL, AGE 76 A sudden heart attack claimed Mrs. Martha McGill, age 76, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ed McGuire, last Saturday morning. Funeral services were held at the Oklahoma Lane Baptist church. Burial was made in the Texico cemetery. Mrs. McGill was born on Oct. 23, 1866, and lacked only two days of attaining her 76th birthday. She came to Texas from Alabama when a child, and settled in Wood County. She was married Oct. 11, 1885. Her husband passed away at Seymour, Texico, on Jan. 4th, 1897, when their oldest child was only ten years of age and she reared her five children alone. For the past 20 years she has lived in this community, making her home since 1937 with her daughter, Mrs. McGuire. She is survived by two sons, Clarence McGill, Mancos, Colo., and Homer, Chandler, Ariz.; and two daughters, Mrs. H. H. Neill, Thalie, Texas, and Mrs. Ed McGuire, Farwell, Other survivors include four brothers and two sisters, nine grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
