DALE HAMMOND Dale Hammond, 70, died Friday, May 15, 2009 in a local hospital. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 18th at Merkel First Baptist Church with Reverend Jimmy Griffith and Jacky Reynolds officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, directed by Starbuck Funeral Home. Dale was born August 25, 1938 in Sweetwater to Hershel and Irene (Whisenhunt) Hammond. He married Belle Potter June 26, 1965 in Arlington. Dale graduated from Arlington High School and was a U. S. Army veteran. He worked for General Motors in Arlington and moved back in 1970 to work for Taylor Electric Co-Op, retiring in 2003. Dale was an artist, fisherman and caregiver to his wife, Belle. Survivors include his wife, Belle Hammond; his son, Clay Hammond; his mother, Irene Hammond all of Merkel; his sister, Gale Hall and husband Jerry of Sunset; his granddaughter, Brooke Alvarez of Tye.
