Bio
Orestes A. Winslow, son of Josiah W. and Anna Frazier Winslow was born near Salem, Henry Co., Iowa, March 26, 1866, and departed this life, at the rising of the sun, December 4, 1945 at the Ninnescah Hospital in Pratt, Kansas, aged 79 years and four months. The the year 1872 he came with his parents to Oborne Co, Kansas and settled on a homestead near Mt. Ayr Friends church, attended Mt. Ayr grade school, Grellet Academy and a few years later attended Cleveland Bible Institute. He was a birthright Friend and was converted at the early age of 6 years and some years later received the baptism of the Holy Ghost. He was united in marriage with Minnie E. Davis, March 31st 1887, at Burr Oak, Kansas. To this union one son was born; Harley Clifford, who died in infancy. After attending Cleveland Bible Institute, they entered upon thier life's work of 30 years in the pastoral and evangelistic field, including one year, serving as Supt. of Endeaveor work in Kansas Yearly Meeting and out-post except two in Kansas Yearly Meeting seeing many young people convertd and sanctified. A few year ago he was compelled on account of ill health, to give up active service in the church. In 1930, they brought their membership to Haviland Friends Church and have resided in Haviland since that time. He was faithful in his home, maintaining family worship throughout his marreid life. He literally fulfilled the promise of his Master, "Seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and his righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you."
