Bio

Born to Joseph Henry Donegan and Anna Laura née Rush Donegan 28 November 1886 in Nebraska. Mr. Joseph T Donegan married Miss Emily Agnes Wright on 30 June 1917 in Kings County, New York. Emily was born in 1888 in England to Irish parents, and she had immigrated in 1916. She was 29 and Joseph 30 when they wed and made their home in Brooklyn Kings, New York. Joseph and Emily had daughter Joan in 1922, and were still in Brooklyn in 1930 with their eight year old daughter and two lodgers in their home. Emily worked as a Cook in a restaurant, and Joseph reports Engineer and Marine. (?) By 1940, Emily and Joan were still in the same home, Emily working as a pastry chef. She is reported as head of house in the 1940 Census, and married, so it would involve speculation to know why Joseph was living across the country in Beverly Hills, California. It is very possible that he was there in a job - related capacity, as he was employed at "Veterans Administration Facility" He also reports still being married. Six years later, Joseph Thomas Donegan passed away in Los Angeles three weeks before his 60th birthday. He was and still is a United States Veteran, having served throughout his life and specifically during the first World War. The photograph of Mr. Donegan comes from his 1920 U.S., Applications for Seaman's Protection Certificates, 1916-1940. This was a document that served as seamen's passports.
