Bio

PRAGUE – John J. Brtek, 63, of Omaha, died May 9 at his home in Omaha. Brtek was born Oct. 27, 1945 to John and Wilma (Svoboda) Brtek in Prague. He graduated from Prague High School and served in the United States Marine Corp. He was a self-employed salesman. He is survived by his daughter, Jamie of Lincoln; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Diane and Bob Chmelka of Fremont and Betty and Pete Hamata of North Bend, one brother, Roger Brtek of Omaha; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 13 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Prague with Father Jamie Hottovy officiating. Burial will be at St. John's Cemetery with military rites. Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 12 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the church with a rosary service at 6 p.m. Memorials may be made to family choice. Kucera-Kracl Funeral Home in Prague is in charge of the arrangements.
