Bio
Son of Mathias & Cecilia (Smeal) Schulte. Attended District 66, Star School, graduated from the eighth grade. Worked on the family farm. Married: 30 Dec. 1941 to Helen Hansen from Hazard. Spent his life at the family farm where he was born; received the Ak-Sar-Ben 100-year farm award, 2008 Activities: was proud of his family and his farming . Achievements; enjoyed reading, hunting and playing cards, singing and playing the accordion, and visiting friends and neighbors; was an active member of Prairie Center Catholic Church, held several positions over the years; moved to Mount Carmel in Kearney two years ago. Survivors include his children, Mary Johnson and her husband, Morten, of Pleasanton, Raymond Schulte and his wife, Jane, of Omaha, Carol Neville and her husband, Jerry, of York, Larry Schulte and his partner, Alan Zimmerman, of New York City, Donna Martinez and her husband, Assuncion, of Torrence, Calif., John Schulte of Kearney, Tom Schulte and his wife, Connie, of Pleasanton, Ed Schulte and his wife, Ronda, of Baldwin City, Kan., and Louis Schulte and his wife, Ruth, of Los Alamos, N.M.; daughter-in-law, Sally Schulte of Riverdale; 27 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends. Was preceded in death by his wife; son, James Schulte; and a grandson.
