The Nelson Gazette (Nelson, NE), Thursday, March 1, 2007; pg. 9 Frances Marie Makovicka, age 82 of York, died Wednesday, February 21, 2007 at York. Frances was born March 15, 1924 near Nelson, NE to Joe J. and Alice Rose (Barta) Mazour. Frances graduated from Dwight Assumption High School in 1941. She married Francis B. Makovicka February 19, 1946 in Deweese, NE and they lived in Ulysses, NE from 1946-60 and then moved to York where they farmed all their married life. Francis died in 1987. Frances was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in York; Altar Society, CDA, Legion Auxiliary, Eagles Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary, past board member of the York County food pantry and worked as a senior companion for York County Aging Service. Frances is survived by her children: George Sr. of Heuytown, AL; Raymond & wife Betty of York; Jane of York; Jean Farley of York; Leon & wife Judy of Columbia, MO; Ronald & wife Debbie of York; Mary Alice Gregg & husband Geoffrey of York; Theresa Hall & husband Marvin of Norfolk; and Robert & wife Rebecca of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; 22 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; her sisters: Eleanor Hamersky & husband Albert of Lincoln and Mary Ann Biltoft of Nelson. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, sons Leo and Bernard; daughters Cecelia and Rita, and great-grandson Douglas Ray. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, February 26, 2007 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in York with Father Mark Tasler officiating. Burial was held at St. Mary's Cemetery in Ulysses. Memorials may be directed to the family or St. Joseph's School or Church. Metz Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
