Bio
CORA CHRISTINE GOLKA (HARMON) was born July 29, 1928, in Mc Fall, Missouri, the daughter of Henry and Cora (Ladd) Harmon. She passed away Saturday, June 16, 2007, at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa, at the age of 78 years. At an early age, her family moved to Omaha, where she eventually met and on January 20, 1948, married Ted Golka, Jr. Their married was blessed with six children. Living in Omaha, Amarillo, Texas; Cape Fair, Missouri;and Lyons, Ted and Christine were inseparable. The most important thing to her was her family and she especially loved holiday get-togethers. Chris enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, crafts, gardening and canning. Christine was a member of the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Lyons and its Altar Society. She also worked as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother; six sisters and one grandchild. Survivors include her loving husband of 59 years: Ted, Jr. of Lyons; children, Ted III and wife, Janice, of Glenwood, Iowa; Virginia Hansen of Bellevue, Nebraska; Roy and wife, Stephanie, of Ft. Smith, Arkansas, Jeanna Helmstadter and husband, John, of Crane, Missouri; Judd and wife, Stacy, of Omaha, Joe of Omaha, Troy of Branson, Missouri; sister: Georgie Dyer of Omaha; eleven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends MEMORIAL MASS: Friday, June 22, 2007, 10:00 a.m., St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Lyons, Nebraska. MEMORIAL GATHERING: Thursday, June 21, 2007, 6 – 8 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Lyons with a ROSARY at 7:00 p.m., led by St. Joseph's Altar Society. BURIAL: Lyons Cemetery. MEMORIALS: Masses for St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 430 Lincoln St., Lyons, NE 68038 and Hospice of Siouxland, 4300 Hamilton Blvd, Sioux City, IA 51104.
