Funeral services for Eli M. Hall were held Friday afternoon at the First Baptist Church in Wagoner. Rev. Wayne Naugher officiated the service. Mr. Hall was born, January 8, 1896, in Logan County, Arkansas and passed away February 27, 1989 in Wagoner, Oklahoma. He served in the United States Army and was a veteran of World War I. After WWI, he decided to make his way to Oklahoma. In 1920, at the age of 24, he left his home in Blue Mountain, Arkansas on horseback looking for land. He settled in rural Wagoner in 1920. He made his living in the Oklahoma oil fields and eventually took up farming which would later make him one of the most respected men in northeastern Oklahoma In 1926, Mr. Hill married Helen Jacoby and by 1930 they bought some land near Neodesha which soon became the home to one of Wagoner's more prosperous families. They raised six children, three boys; J.B., Sherman and Lee J.; and three girls; Margaret French who now lives in Poteau, Oklahoma, Mary Harding of Inola and Betty McCoy of Wagoner. There are 15 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren. Surviving family members are his six children and the grandchildren. Interment was in Elmwood Cemetery. Shipman-Floyd Funeral Home in Wagoner arranged the services. Active casket bearers were J. B. Hall, Sherman Hall, Lee Hall, Bud French, Gye Harding, and Tony McCoy. Serving as honorary bearers were; Russell Harris, Tom Gilbert, Ellis Neal, Willard Denton, Talmadge Hardin, Donald Deer Kennedy, Sam Dennison, Fred Combites and Charles Cannon.
