Bio

Cecile Smith Childs, 97, died Wednesday December 11, 2002 at her home. She was born May 18, 1905. She was a lifelong member of Chapel Hill Methodist Church and a member of the Eastern Star. She graduated from Mississippi State University and retired from the Alcorn County School system. She was affectionately known as Goodie. Services were held at Chapel Hill with the Rev. Nathan Hainz officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Survivors include daughters, Billie Grisham of Corinth and Annette Barnes of Burnsville and 6 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Childs, parents George and Maggie Burney Smith and brothers, Ernest F. and Herbert Smith.
