Wahoo Newspaper (NE) - Monday, January 21, 2008 WAHOO – George F. Benes, 92, of Wahoo, died Jan. 14 at St. Elizabeth Regional Medical Center in Lincoln. Benes was born to John and Barbara (Vysocan) Benes on a farm near Ceresco. He attended country school in rural Saunders County. He married Betty Komenda on Oct 6, 1945 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Brainard. He spent his early years in the Ceresco area, after his marriage the couple farmed in the Wahoo and Ceresco areas until retiring and then moving to Wahoo 20 years ago. He was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Wahoo, Catholic Workman and a former member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Davey. He was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers and four sisters. He is survived by his wife; a sister, Anne Bouc of Lincoln; brother-in-law, Anton (Rose) Komenda of Valparaiso; sisters-in-law, Dorothy (Howard) Novotny of Valparaiso, Agnes Benes of Wahoo and Glee Komenda of Brainard; many nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial was held Jan. 18 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Wahoo with Rev. Sean Timmerman officiating. Interment was at St. Francis Cemetery in Wahoo. Casket bearers were Gary Bouc, Glen Bouc, Gary Hatfield, Clair Kriz, Arnold Tvrdy and Ermin Benes. Memorials may be made to the church. Svoboda Funeral Home of Wahoo was in charge of the arrangements.
