James Carl Estes, son of James W "Jim" & Sarah Elizabeth (Scott) Estes The Wellington Leader Thursday, May 29, 1969 Carl Estes, 71 Retired Barber Dies Tuesday Carl Estes, 72, a retired Wellington barber, died In St Joseph's Hospital at 7:20 a.m. Tuesday, May 27. He had been it falling health for several years and hospitalized about two weeks. He had lived in Wellington continuously since 1944, coming here from Altus more than 40 years ago, however, this was his home for several years. Mr Estes had owned a barber shop here and he also had worked in other shops. A tireless worker in the Church of Christ, officiating were Minister Gaylord Cook and Minister Grandol Forehand of the Dalhart Church of Christ. Burial was in South Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Kelso Funeral Home. Surviving Mr Estes are his wife, Mrs Gladys Estes; one son, J C Estes, Jr., of Levelland; three sisters, Mrs H A Melton and Mrs Bessie Cypert of Pueblo, Colo. and Mrs W S Pell of Tulsa; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. One son, Lee Alton Estes, died in 1961.
