"John Corke, 66 year old, died at 5 a.m. yesterday at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. John Huffer, Vermilion Heights. He had been ill for about two years. He was recently brought from Ridgeland, Mississippi, where he had been in the hope that the milder climate of that latitude would benefit his health. The change, however, did him no good, and he was brought home to die. Mr. Corke was born in Circleville, Ohio, and had lived in this county 57 years. Much of this time was spent in Rossville and on a farm near that place. He had a wide acquaintance in the northern part of the county. He is survived by his wife and the following children: Mrs. John Huffer, Vermilion Heights; George Corke, St. Louis; Kate Williamson, Oklahoma City; John Corke, Libbie Corke, Nora Shutts, Ida Coons, Rossville; Ora Corke, Ridgeland, Mississippi. The remains will be taken to Rossville today and the funeral will be held there Sunday. Burial will be in the Rossville cemetery."
