Valentine Meduna Obituary Valentine C. Meduna, 80, of Wahoo died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2008, at Ashland Care Center. She was born in rural Ithaca to Frank and Gustie (Brabec) Styskal. She attended grade school in Ithaca until the eighth grade and graduated from Wahoo High School in 1944. After high school, she worked as a secretary for a lawyer in Wahoo and then for many years at the Wahoo Newspaper. She married Leonard Meduna on June 17, 1947, in Wahoo. After her marriage, she lived in Wahoo until 1962 when she moved to a farm northwest of Weston. Later, she moved back to Wahoo and lived there until moving to Ashland Care Center in 1997. Her husband preceded her in death in 2000. She was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church and a former member of St. John's Catholic Church in Weston. Survivors include: a son, Kenneth (and wife, Carol) Meduna; two sisters, Ann Christopher of Monterey, Calif., and Mary Jane LeGrande of Cedar Bluffs; a sister-in-law, Frances Styskal of Wahoo; and many other relatives. She also was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters. The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Wahoo with the Rev. Sean Timmerman officiating. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Friday with a rosary at 7 p.m., all at Svoboda Funeral Home in Wahoo. Visitation will continue one hour prior to service time Saturday at the church. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery in Wahoo. Memorials have been established to St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Wahoo and St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ashland.
