"Roger M. Woita WESTON - Roger M. Woita, 73, of Weston, died April 11 at the Saunders County Care Center in Wahoo after struggling with illness. Woita was born Dec. 11, 1934, to Emil and Frances (Blazek) Woita at Weston. He attended Weston elementary school and graduated from Weston High School in 1953. While still in high school he worked at the Mead Ordinance Plant. He was united in marriage to Mary Lou Ohnoutka on Aug. 22, 1953 at St. John's Church. They made their home in Weston. He worked at Swanson Ford in Ceresco and then at Don Cerny Body and Paint in Wahoo. He worked at Tvrdy One Stop in Valparaiso for one year before opening his own business as Woita Auto Body in Wahoo in 1988. He retired from his business in 1998 and became the groundskeeper and landscaper at Czechland Lake near Prague. He also worked after hours as the volunteer caretaker of the grounds at St. John Church in Weston and worked at Hilltop Country Club for several years. For three years he owned the Loft Bar in Weston. He was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church and a 25- year member of the Weston Fire and Rescue Department. His sons, Kurt and Russell Woita, his parents, and a sister, Pauline O'Connor, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife; children and spouses, Rick and Marcia Woita of Wahoo, Cindy and Phil Rowland of York, Gwenn Arney and significant other, Kevin Harnett of Weston, Kim and Steve Otte of Wahoo, Becky and Paul Hattan, Jeff Woita and Stacey and Roger Kliment, all of Lincoln; grandchildren, Jason, Ahern and Brent Woita, Katina Texel, Kallie Rowland, Stephanie Papik, Nicole, Michelle, Josh and Joey Otte, Ryan and Kirsten Hattan, Makenna, Cole and Ethan Kliment; great-grandchildren, Kailee, Isabelle and Porter Woita, and Connor Papik. Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, April 15 at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Weston with Rev. Thomas Brouillette officiating. Casket bearers were Jason, Ahern and Brent Woita, Josh Otte, Ryan Hattan and Robert Ohnoutka. Honorary casket bearers were Richard, Don and Dave Tvrdy, Jim Blazek, Larry Stuchlik and Stanley Meduna. Interment was at St. John Cemetery in Weston with the "Last Call" by Weston Fire and Rescue Department. Memorials may be made to St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church. Svoboda Funeral Home of Wahoo was in charge of the arrangements." - Wahoo Newspaper; April 17, 2008
