Bio

Services for Abbie Hewitt, 82, of Lubbock will be held 2 p.m. today at W.W. Rix Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Elton Wyatt officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery under direction of Rix Funeral Directors. She died Tuesday, July 27, 1999, at Covenant Medical Center. She was born Sept. 19, 1916, in Bullard. She graduated from Bullard High School and attended college in Jacksonville before moving to Lubbock in 1957. She was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church and was a career counselor for 38 years. She was preceded in death by a son, Tommy Hewitt III, in 1977. Survivors include a daughter, Debby Moen of Plano; a sister, Vivian McGrew of Port Arthur; and three grandsons.
