Services for Verlie Ashworth, 84, Wills Point, were held Friday, April 9, at Herschel LyBrand Chapel with Rev. Garland Whitmire officiating. Burial was in Myrtle Springs Cemetery in Van Zandt County. Mrs. Ashworth died April 7, 1999, in Terrell. She was born September 8, 1914, in Garden Valley near Van, to the late Harvey and Dola Taylor Moon. She moved to Myrtle Springs as a child, where she spent most of her life. She married Mark Ashworth November 29, 1938. He proceded her in death in 1992. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Myrtle Springs. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Doug Small, Wills Point; brothers, Farris Moon and Elray Moon, both of Quinlan; sisters, Theo Rowden, Opal Holloway and Ara Nell Edwards, all of Dallas; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
