Bio
Sue O'Brien, 89, of Ennis, passed away in Ennis on Thursday, March 19, 2009. Sue was born in Crisp, Texas, on April 20, 1919, to parents Joe and Matilda Chrastecky Skroh. She was reared in Ennis and graduated from Ennis High School in 1937 and from Parkland School of Nursing , earning her RN degree, in 1940. On March 15, 1941, she married W.E. O'Brien, and they lived in Ennis. From 1969-1978, Sue and Winston lived in San Antonio. In 1978 they moved back to Ennis, and in 1998 they moved to Mesquite. Sue was first a homemaker and mother. She was employed as an RN in the hospital in Gilmer and was also with Ennis Care Center briefly as Director of Nursing. She was a member of 1st United Methodist Church. Sue is survived by daughters Judy and her husband Jerry Linker of Mesquite and Kay and her husband John Hasty of Spring Branch, TX, and by her son Jim and his wife Judy O'Brien of Spring Branch, TX. Also surviving are five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, W.E. O'Brien on 10-30-2003, her parents, three sisters, and two brothers. Family visitation will be from 3:30pm to service time on Monday, March 23, 2009, at 4:30 pm, in Myrtle Cemetery. Jerry Linker will officiate under the direction of JE Keever Mortuary
