John R. Brockman, 67, was instantly killed at Riverton yesterday when he was struck by a west bound Wabash freight train at the Seventh street crossing. Brockman, who was employed as a carpenter at the Peabody mine, was on his way to work when the accident happened. Brockman is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Carrie Kern, Farmingdale; Mrs. Lena Wells, Cantrall, three sons, Charlie, Springfield; Joseph, Riverton; and Ernest, Fullerton, California; two sisters, Mrs. Mary E. Pollard, Pilot Point, Tex.; Mrs. Lucy Pollard, Alton; two brothers, Alfred Brockman, Kentucky, and Melvin Brockman, Wolf City, Tex. He was united in marriage May 2, 1880, with Miss Mellisa Pollard.
