QUANAH - Charles Lowell Slaton, 78, died Tuesday, April 7, 2009, in Crowell. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bud Kidwell of Panhandle officiating, and the Rev. Lloyd Stice assisting. Burial with Masonic rites will be in Quanah Memorial Park by Smith Funeral Home. Mr. Slaton was born Feb. 23, 1931, in Lazare to Madison and Jewell Denning Slaton. He married Margaret E. "Margie" Graham on July 3, 1955, in Vernon. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Charles Slaton of Dallas and Stanford Slaton of Quanah; two daughters, Sherilyn Warner of Coppell and Margaret Kelley of Lubbock; and eight grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 397, Quanah, TX 79252; or Hospice of Wichita Falls, 4909 Johnson Road, Wichita Falls, TX 76310.
