Susan was the daughter of William "Hudson" Butler and Ellender Watson. She married Uriah Milton Murff on 10 February 1859 in Monroe Co., Mississippi. Their children were California Hasseton Murff Gallop, Uriah Marion Murff, Crayton Wilford Murff, Chesley Milton Murff, and Oscar D. Murff. Susan married second William Henry Ware.
