John Clark McAlister was the son of William Crawford McAlister and Mary "Polly" Webb McAlister. He married Mary Ann Bledsoe on September 23, 1856 in Dover, Pope Co., Arkansas. Mary Ann died in Oklahoma. She is buried at Old Stonewall-Frisco Cemetery, Pontotoc Co., Oklahoma.
