Barbara Ewert, age 98, of Columbus, Nebraska died Wednesday November 3, 2004 at the Cottonwood House in Columbus. Funeral Services are 10:00 a.m. Saturday November 6, 2004 at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Columbus with Reverend David Fulton officiating. Burial is in the St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Visitation is 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Friday with a 7:00 p.m. Vigil Service at McKown Funeral Home. Visitation continues Saturday morning from 8:00 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. also at the funeral home. Barbara Ewert was born June 16, 1906 in Polk County, Nebraska to Andrew & Anne (Czapla) Triba. She attended school in Osceola and St. Francis Academy in Columbus. She married George H. Ewert on January 12, 1925 at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Columbus. Along with her husband, she was co-owner of George Ewert Implement Co., from 1944 to 1967. Barbara was active in the Democratic Party. She was a member of St. Bonaventure Catholic Church and Friends of Music. She enjoyed flowers, gardening and music, especially playing the piano. She is survived by: Daughter: Ruth Syslo of Columbus, NE Daughter: Betty (Ken Sr.) Greiner of Columbus, NE Six Grandchildren Seventeen Great Grandchildren Seven Great Great Grandchildren One Step Great Grandchild OneStep Great Great Grandchild She was preceded by: Husband: George Ewert Father: Andrew Triba : Anne Triba Grandson: Brian Syslo Three Brothers Eight Sisters
