John married Miss Gladys Thomasson on 17 June 1923 at the home of her brother in Everman, Texas. They had no children. Obituary from The Waxahachie Daily Light , 05 April 1957, pg. 1: John Foster Baxter Dies in Local Hospital Thursday John Foster Baxter, 66, a native of Ferris, died at 10 o'clock last night at the Waxahachie Sanitarium after an illness of several weeks. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 pm Saturday at the Boze-Mitchell Funeral home chapel with Rev. T. Hollis Epton, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Burial Park. Mr. Baxter, who was born on July 29, 1890, was married to Miss Gladys Thomasson of Dallas in 1923. A member of the First Baptist Church, he was a member of the Masonic Lodge 1290 at Galena Park and had lived at Danieldale community on Beckley highway for several years before coming to Waxahachie. He also had resided in Galena Park for 13 years and was in the hardware business there. In Waxahachie he was in the grocery, market and sausage business until his retirement. Survivors include his widow; a brother, Joe Baxter of Lancaster; and three sisters, Mrs. Kizzie Wicker of Fort Worth, Mrs. Susie Thomas of Dallas and Mrs. Mattie Hill of Ferris.
