From The Paris News, Thurs. July 29, 1948, page 4: Floyd E. Rush, 62, Paris city policeman the past five years, died Thursday morning at 10:40 o'clock at St. Joseph's Hospital, where he had been a patient a week. He had been in ill health for some time. Mr. Rush, who lived here at 306-6th SE, was a son of the late Dr. A. J. and Laura E. Rush, and was born at Lake Creek, Delta County, Oct. 5, 1885. He married Miss Sallie McClain, also of Delta County. He was formerly employed by the old Rogers-Wade Furniture Store. The funeral will be held at 5 p.m. at Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home by the Rev. Walter G. Horne, pastor of Central Presbyterian Church. Burial will be made in Evergreen Cemetery. Mr. Rush's nephews to be pallbearers, with members of the Paris police department on the honorary list. Surviving besides Mrs. Rush are these children: Mrs. Jess E Stalls, Paris; Mrs. Roger Skidmore and Mrs. Maurice Phillips, Dallas; Mrs. Roy Quinn, Amarillo and Mrs. Newman King, Mount Pleasant; five grandchildren; a brother and four sisters, T. V. (Vester) Rush, and Mrs. Lloyd Robinson, Paris; Mrs. George Brown, Oklahoma City, Okla.; Mrs. Fred Skaggs, Houston, and Mrs. R. C. Stovall, Dallas.
