After Lucinda passed away 15 April 1846, Moniteau Co., MO, James m. Sarah Musik (various spellings) 30 December 1849 in Moniteau Co., Missouri. 1850 U.S. Census for Moniteau County, Missouri (23 Oct): James Miller M 32 Tennessee Sarah Miller F 30 Missouri John Miller M 12 Missouri Malinda Miller F 9 Missouri James Miller M 5 Missouri Jonathan Miller M 3 Missouri Living next are John (30 yrs) & Nancy Miller; also living nearby are Thomas (27 yrs) & Eliza Miller. James' brothers? All are farmers. At this time, James & Sarah hd no known children. James came West with the 1852 emigration. His wife Sarah and two of his children (Ephraim Lanson Miller & James Carter/Cortez Miller) died on the plains of cholera. Ephraim Lanson Miller was a son with Sarah who was born & died in 1852. Note: The 1852 overland migration was the largest on record, with numbers swelled by Oregon-bound settlers as well as hordes of gold-seekers destined for California.
