Bio

Dale Fernley Beck, age 77, passed away of natural causes at his home on March 26, 2009. Born June 3, 1931 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Harold Dale Beck and Ora Teressa Fernley. Married Claudia Burton on April 3, 1953 in Salt Lake City, Utah; later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Dale was a hard worker and a perfectionist all of his life. After serving for four years with honor in the US Navy, he attended the University of Utah. After being with Salt Lake City Police Department for five years, Dale began his career as part of the team that pioneered early open heart surgery at Holy Cross Hospital. He went on to work for Deseret Medical (later known as Beckton Dickinson) developing medical products, including invention of the "E-Z Scrub Brush". Dale was an active serving member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend; he will be greatly missed. Dale is survived by his wife Claudia, daughters, Kristine (Dale) Erickson and Karen (Paul) Hicks; daughter-in-law, Pamela Beck; 13 grandchildren, eight great-grand children; sisters, Hazel Beck and Jill (Hal) Russell. Preceded in death by his son, Dale Fernley Beck, Jr. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 12:00 noon at the Brighton Point LDS Chapel, 3455 East Bengal Boulevard (7800 South). Friends may call at the Cannon Mortuary, 2460 East Bengal Boulevard (7600 South), on Monday, March 30, 2009 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. and on the day of the services at the Church from 11:00 to 11:45 a.m. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery.
