Bio
Lois Thurman Welcker passed away on Monday, March 23, 2009 at her home in Magna, UT. Lois was born November 19, 1924 in Garfield, UT, the second daughter of Douglas L. Sr. and Pearl Jones Thurman. She spent her early years in Garfield with her three sisters and two brothers, later moving to Magna, where she graduated from Cyprus High School in 1942. Lois married Lewis F. Welcker on August 27, 1948 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Lois is survived by her husband; daughters, Karen Welcker (Brent) Simper, of Ft. Collins, CO; and Kristine Welcker (Andy) Ciupek, of Salt Lake City; brother, Ronald (Rhea) Thurman; seven grandsons and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Salt Lake County Deputy Michael Scott Welcker. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 27, 2009 in the Pleasant Green Ward Chapel, 8739 West 3000 South, where friends and family may call both on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. and on Friday from 12-12:45 p.m. at the Church.
