Franklin Daily Journal 9 Jun 2003 INDIANAPOLIS Velma 'Willie' McWhirter Velma "Willie" McWhirter, 67, died Friday, June 6, 2003, at St. Francis Hospital Indianapolis. She was a resident of Indianapolis. She was born July 11, 1935, in Somerset, Ky. Her father was Bruce Burdine. Her mother is Stella (Baker) Burdine Adams of Somerset, Ky. She married William Robert McWhirter on Aug. 15, 1956. He also survives. Other survivors include three sons, Tim McWhirter of Camby and Bobby and Don McWhirter, both of Greenwood; a brother, Willard Burdine of Brookston; three sisters, Vivian Doris Wright of Coal City, Mary McWhirter of Indianapolis and Rosielee Bullock of Somerset, Ky.; and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Edgar Burdine. She was employed by Tee Pee Restaurant as a hostess for 23 years, retiring in 1977. She was a member of Chimney Rock Baptist Church in Somerset, Ky. The Rev. Terry Foster will conduct a service at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Forest Lawn Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Home, State Road 135 Chapel. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in White River Township. Memorial contributions may be made to Riley Hospital for Children.
