Francis Matya Funeral Services were held 11:00 A.M., Thursday, September 15, 1988 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Aurora. Interment was held in the Aurora Catholic Cemetery. OBITUARY: Francis Matya Francis J. Matya, the son of Frank and Laura (Czuba) Matya, was born at Cedar Rapids, Nebraska, on April 18, 1917, and passed away at Aurora, Nebraska, on September 12, 1988, at the age of 71 years, 4 months, and 24 days. He was raised in Cedar Rapids area, and attended school in Cedar Rapids, Duncan and Columbus. He served 2 years in the Civilian Conservation Corps near Madison. On September 28, 1942, he was united in holy matrimony to Irene Dean, at Lincoln, Nebraska. They moved to Aurora in 1949, where he was employed by Farm, Inc. and in 1978, they moved to Central City where he managed the farm owned by Farm, Inc. In April of 1984, he retired and moved back to Aurora. Francis was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Aurora. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Patrick Dean, and one brother Lawrence. Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife Irene; 4 daughters, Stephanie Harms of Hooper, Laurie Pfeifer of Aurora, Diane Thompson of Sutton and Vicky Pfeifer of Aurora; 2 brothers, Joe Matya of Fremont and Don Matya of Omaha; 2 sisters, Helen Follensbee of Maitland, Florida and Lorraine Hirsch of Fremont; 10 grandsons and one granddaughter, and many other relatives and friends.
