Lynn Whaley Lynn Whaley, age 80, of Aurora, died Saturday, March 14, 2009 at the Hamilton Manor. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, March 17th at Messiah Lutheran Church. Pastors Sheryl Kester Beyer and Chris Kester Beyer will officiate. A private family inurnment will be in the Aurora Cemetery prior to the service. No visitation. Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to Asera Care Hospice, Hamilton Manor or Messiah Lutheran Church. OBITUARY: LYNN WHALEY Lynn Arthur Whaley, the son of John A. and Gertie (Lange) Whaley, was born in Callaway, Nebraska on November 29, 1928 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on March 14, 2009, at the age of 80. He grew up in Callaway and graduated from Callaway High School in 1946. Lynn farmed in Callaway until 1965 then moved to Grand Island and began working at the New Holland plant as a machinist. Lynn was united in marriage to Luella A. Stute Pursley on April 22, 1972 and moved to Aurora. After working for New Holland for 25 years he retired. After retirement, Lynn and Luella enjoyed their winters in Texas and Arizona. Lynn was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an avid auction go-er, who enjoyed buying and selling antiques. Lynn was a coin and marble collector. He also enjoyed gardening. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Wayne; sister, Louise and twin sister, Lucille. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Luella of Aurora; two sons, Mitchell Whaley of Grand Island and Chuck Whaley of Alliance; daughter, Sonya Jones of Salt Lake, Utah; step-son, John (Shauna) Pursley of Aurora; 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
