Laura Brandt Funeral Services were held 2:00 P.M., Friday, January 30, 1987 at Higby Mortuary. Interment was held in the Aurora Cemetery. OBITUARY: Laura Brandt Laura Ethel Brandt, the daughter of Emanuel and Freida (Shipferling) Rhoades, was born at Benedict, Nebraska, on June 24, 1920, and passed away at Aurora, Nebraska, on January 27, 1987, at the age of 66 years, 7 months, and 3 days. Laura's early childhood was spent in the Benedict and York vicinities. Her teen years were spent in the Surprise area. Laura was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith as a child, and she was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Hampton. On December 26, 1943, she married Ervin L. Brandt at Rising City, Nebraska. They spent all their years farming, until 1967, when they moved into Hampton. They lived in Hampton for several years before moving to Aurora. While living in this area she worked in cafes and cared for the elderly. Three years ago they moved to Grand Island where they retired. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and two brothers. Those who remain to cherish her memory are her husband, Ervin of Grand Island; 2 sons, Jim of Kearney and Richard of Grand Island; 2 daughters, Elizabeth Budnick of Centennial, Wyoming and Donna Walters of Grand Island; 2 sisters, Barbara Greenway of Palmer and Mary Knisley of Lincoln; 17 grandchildren; one great-grandchild, and other relatives and close friends.
