s/o John T. & Sarah (Howard) Hurt h/o Margaret Ann (Sandlin) Hurt (m. 21 November 1850, Boone County, Indiana) m/o Elizabeth Hurt, Martha Ann Hurt, Mary Isabell Hurt, Sarah Ann Hurt, John D. Hurt, James David Hurt, William Meekin Hurt, and Lewis F. Hurt His parents moved to Indiana in abt the fall of 1830. Occupation: Minister; he was one of the pioneer Methodist ministers in Indiana. He was also a farmer and a stock buyer. He was a member of the Jamestown Masonic Lodge, (helping to establish it), Odd Fellows, & the Knights of Pythias. C.O.D. Paralysis; had the disease 3 years prior to death; (Obit says: Softening of the brain) He had been in declining health for the last 10 years, having been in severely ill the last 2 years of his life. The last 6 months he was confined to his bed. Funeral service were conducted by the Cory & Bratton Funeral Home; the Rev. Demetrius Tillotson officiated. He was buried on June 13, 1901; Obituary published in the Lebanon (Boone County, Indiana) Patriot on June 13, 1901.
