Bio

William Rueben Black Dies at His Home in Deseret Delta -William Rueben Black, 73, a lifelong resident of Deseret died at his home Wed, Jan 16. He had been failing in health for several months. Mr. Black was born Sept 17, 1861 in Spring City, Utah, a son of Joseph S. and Cynthia Allred Black of Deseret. His widow, Lucy Whicker Black and the following children survive: Mrs. Laura Peterson, Mrs. Nora Nisonger, Los Angeles; Mrs. Ella Whitehead, Grace, Idaho; William Ernest Black, Delta; Lavon and Dee Black, Deseret; Mrs. Bartella Wilde, Eureka; 21 grandchildren and four great grandchild. Funeral services were held Friday, Jan 18, in the Deseret ward chapel. Bishop Ephraim Eliason presided. Appropriate musical numbers were rendered. The speakers were Samuel W. Western, Neils Peterson, Bishop Eliason and Layton Allredge (nephew of tho the deceased). Resolutions of respect were read by John Reeves in behalf of the members member of Deseret stake high council. Internment was in the Deseret cemetery and a large cortege followed the body. The casket was bedded in a profuse floral display. Mr. Black had done much in the promotion of Millard county and had lived longer in West Millard than any other man living there at the present time, according to the statements statement of friends.
