Hazel Irene Scott, age 85, of Ozark, passed away Thursday, May 8, 2003 in Ozark Nursing and Care Center. She was born April 27, 1918 in Lawton, Oklahoma, the daughter of Hubert and Blanch (Gideon) Traughber. On December 19, 1935, she and Millard Scott were married. He preceded her in death in 1995. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Rose and Gerri. Hazel was baptized at the age of sixteen in Bull Creek. She was owner and operator of Eat-A-Bite Café on the square in Ozark for thirty-five years. Survivors include four daughters, Ruth Meadows and husband Harvey Joe, Walnut Shade, Mae Tennis and husband Larry, Ozark, Mamie Wernink and husband Gene, Crane, and Charolette Scott, Ozark; eight grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a sister, Madeline Faucett, Marshfield; and a brother-in-law, Calvin Scott, Bakersfield, California. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, April 12, 2003 in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, with Rev. James "Hobo" Applegate officiating. Burial will follow in Spokane Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Springfield News-Leader, May 10, 2003.
