Bio

Samuel was the son of Isaac Hemphill and Rebecca L. Eberhart. He married Dora Estella Hollingsworth Samuel Cary Hemphill, 79, a longtime resident of the Baldwin area, died Sunday morning at his home in Baldwin. He had been ill since 1955, when he retired from farming and moved into town. Mr. Hemphill was a member of the Ives Chapel Methodist Church in Baldwin. He was born near Vinland in 1882, and attended Baker University in 1907. He married Estella Hollingsworth, who survives, on Oct. 27, 1920, in Lawrence.
