Bio

Basil J. Dunham, the son of Henry Orville and Hannah Mae (White) Dunham was born May 31, 1931 at Aurora, Nebraska and passed away on March 4, 2009 at Grand Island, Nebraska. Basil grew up in Aurora and graduated from Aurora High School. He completed one year of college before serving in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War. Basil returned from the war and operated an electrical/motor winding business in Aurora for many years. He then went to Modesto, California and worked at a bank in San Francisco for a period of time. When he returned to Grand Island, he operated an electrical fence repair business before his health prevented from working any longer. Basil volunteered many hours at the V.A. Hospital in Grand Island. He enjoyed drinking wine and spending time with his friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and five sisters. Those left to cherish his memory are special friends, Glorie Jean (Ronald) Kortum of Chapman, Terry Carnes of Grand Island, Sara (Trent) Tyler and Haylie, Hannah & Hayden and Steve Kortum; sister, Ramona Roberts of Grand Island and a whole host of friends at the V.A. Hospital.
