Bio

OBITUARY : MELVIN O. SHOCKEY, 75, a 50-year resident of Mountainair, passed away Friday evening at his home. He is survived by his wife Elsie , of the home; a daughter, Bernice Smith of Albuquerque, a son, Dr. Don Shockey of Dallas, Ore.; a sister, Alpha Irvin of Woodward, Okla., three brothers, Leonard Shockey of Bogota, Tex., Everett Shockey of Monterey and Ivan Shockey of Tijeras; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was a member of Nazarene Church. Mr. Shockey retired from the Postal Dept. in July 1967 after serving 26 years as postmaster in Mountainair. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Hanlon Mortuary chapel in Mountainair with burial at Barton Cemetery near Edgewood. The Rev. Orval Set officiating.
