Ramar Augustus Dickerson was the son of David E. Dickerson (1852-1914), a dentist and allopath from Lafayette, Walker, Georgia, and Martha E. "Mattie" Pittman (1855-1920), of Tatesville, McNairy, Tennessee--who just happened to be first cousins since David's mother, Sophia Elizabeth Tate (1815-1856), and Martha's mother, Mary Frances Tate (1814- ) were sisters. Ramar had two brothers and one sister: Walter Robert Dickerson (1883-1964), Frank Z. Dickerson (1888-1957), and Florence E. Dickerson (1892- ). Ramar married Emma Leona Brock (1890-1988), of Alcorn County, Mississippi. They were the parents of six children: Bertie Mae "Birdie" Dickerson Pulse (1908-1961), Mamie E. Dickerson Pulse (1911-1993), Leon Jackson Dickerson (1912-1977), John Enos Dickerson (1921-1991), David Henry Dickerson (1924-1926), and James Tate Dickerson (1927-2003). U.S. Census records document that Ramar was a farmer.
