Bio

Her tombstone gives only her initials but her name was Rachel Clarinda Owen Monk. This is my gg grandmother on my mother's father's side of family. She married 07 Dec 1848 in Randolph Co., AL to my gg grandfather. She was the wife of Zachariah Marion Monk who died in the Civil War in a hospital in Galveston, TX. She was the daughter of Samuel Tine Owen and Sarah Ward Knight Owen. They all came by wagon train to Henderson Co., TX in 1850-51 after the census was taken in Randolph Co., AL where Rachel and Zach are listed with first child, Sarah Monk, age 1 yr.
