Wilmer C. Hanson, age 85, of Austin passed away Friday, May 30, 2003. He was born September 25, 1917. He is survived by his wife of nearly 62 years, Gladys Madsen Hanson; his daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Robert Hilbig; granddaughter and her husband Beth and Michael Orta; grandson and his wife Greg and Laura Hilbig; and great-grandchildren, Jasmine and Mikey Orta. Also surviving are one brother-in-law, five sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews. Wilmer was a World War II veteran, serving from 1942-1946 as a tanker in the Third Armored Division. He retired from Southland Corporation in 1983 with 35 years of service. He was a member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church …." ("Austin American-Statesman," June 1, 2003)
