Celebration of Life: Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009 Cemetery: Willamette National Cemetery Jack Hickmon Walter J. "Jack" Hickmon Born: 03/11/1919 Passed: 02/14/2009 Jack Hickmon was born in Monona County, Iowa. At the start of WW2, he worked as an aircraft assembly instrument technician with Lockheed in Los Angeles, California. He proudly served his country further as a pilot in the Army Air Force. After his discharge, Jack joined family to open the Merrill and Hickmon garage in Gresham, Oregon. He married Zoella on April 2, 1949. In 1966, Jack followed opportunity West to Lincoln City. He worked there as a mechanic, retiring from Lincoln County Sanitary Service. He also spent many years as a volunteer, driving the tanker for Lincoln City Fire Dept. When he was not at work, you might find Jack enjoying fishing and hunting or attending one of his many philanthropic activities. Jack was a Master Mason, member of the Scottish Rite and the Al Kader Shrine. He served as Master of his lodge, Worthy Patron of Eastern Star, Royal Patron of Amaranth, member of the Elks, American Legion and Lincoln County Shrine club. Jack is survived by his wife Zoella, Forest Grove and his sister Blanche Jenkins of Sloan, Iowa. He passed away at the Jennings McCall Masonic and Eastern Star home in Forest Grove. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shrine Hospital or Masonic and Eastern Star home endowment fund.
